NATIVITY COMMITTEES

Outreach at Nativity

The Outreach Committee supports programs that encourage parish participation in our church and the outside community. Since Outreach has been operating without a budget, we are always looking for creative ways to be involved in the community. Individuals within the committee organize our participation in the annual Crop Walk, send goodie packages to our college students, organize blood drives and coordinate the Christmas gift drive for needy families. This past year, we also took up a special collection to provide Thanksgiving dinner for several families. We donate food (provided by our parishioners) to the food pantry at the Damien Center . We support the art classes at Crestview Elementary School by collecting different art supplies to help supplement their needs. We support the United Thank Offering (UTO) and host an alternative Christmas market where you can purchase items from Episcopal Relief and Development for gifts.

Nativity also has a Needlework ministry. Members of the church knit (or crochet) prayer shawls, baby blankets and mariners scarves.

We are always open to ideas for new outreach programs, either one-time events or ongoing. If you have any ideas please let us know. The Outreach Committee meets bi-monthly (February, April, June, August, October & December), on the second Monday of the month. New members and visitors are always welcome.

Dayspring Adopt-A-Room

On Saturday, June 7 th , members of Nativity will be working on the Dayspring Center's Adopt-A-Room project. We will be repairing, painting, updating and decorating a "Family of 4" room. Dayspring will purchase all furniture and most supplies with the funds that we will provide.
It takes five people approximately four hours to complete a room. Volunteers will be needed to work on June 7 th from approximately 9AM - 1PM (or a little longer) to complete this room. Since no more than five people can work in the room at one time, we will work in shifts so everyone who wants to help will have the opportunity to work. The shifts will be from 9-11 and 11-1.
There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board, or you can contact Lee Ann Kee to sign up. When we complete this room, a plaque with our name will be placed above the door, a symbol to remind the homeless families that we care about them.
